Recently, real estate has witnessed a new trend of people using mobiles as a preferred platform over desktop for property search. As consumers are increasingly looking for end-to-end real estate solutions; companies on their part are following their customers’ lead. Penetration of mobile and internet access has aided consumer convenience. Since consumer today wants a simplified, on-the-go process for purchasing property with ease and convenience, companies are now investing more on ready-to-access consumer platforms via mobile as compared to e-commerce.
Ongoing digital revolution is accelerating the shift of property search from desktop to mobile. Most people today are increasingly using their mobile devices to explore at least one of the following: search for listings, find directions to a house, look for more information, call or e-mail an agent directly, or watch a video while out looking for a home.
Taking this into account, IndiaProperty.com has conducted a study on the consumers behavior, indicating the ‘Growth in use of Mobile for Property Search’, which reveals that:
- 54% of the total consumer base are females, meaning that as women become more active on the mobile platforms, they are using it as a tool for searching property
- Property search via mobile in Tier II cities has grown 1.3 times compared to the overall national average
- As the income levels of the younger population rise, people in the age group of 18-34 years have higher preference for property search via mobile
